Western Isles Sensory Project opens in January 2011
19 December 2010
The need for high quality community support services for people of all ages affected by blindness/sight loss or deafness/hearing loss is long recognised by the Scottish Government, and various projects are being funded throughout Scotland.
Historically, services have largely been visiting staff from the mainland. Whilst blindness services date back to 1876, this will be the first dedicated community base in the Western Isles, 135 years later!
