Caithness grandmother tells of Sight Action's 'fantastic service':

A Wick grandmother is one of many people supported by Sight Action. Originally from Yorkshire, she moved north to be closer to her family. She used to be restricted to her home in a sheltered housing complex in the town.

Or at least that was the case until she spoke to Sight Action. Now she says she doesn’t know what she would have done without the help of Raymond Smart, a Rehabilitation Officer at Sight Action.

“Raymond saved my life!” she said.

She explained:

“I can hardly see at all and used to be unable to cross the road. I never got anywhere, not even into Wick town centre.

“Now I can go to Inverness or Thurso with my guide dog. I can live an independent life since Raymond showed me how to use my walking stick out and about.

“When I am at home I love listening to the talking book cassettes I get from Sight Action too. It’s a fantastic service.”
